Smith Arnold Wragg’s production Manager was visited by Dave Ball from WIDIA today to discuss a
possible improvement project for January 19.
improvement opportunity is to maximise the life span of our tapping cycles
across 3 of Arnold Wragg’s Traub machining which typically cut material such as
S80 and S154 for the aerospace industry. These Traub CNC machines operate 16
hours a day with a 1 operator to 3 machine ratio over 2 shifts with a
restricted “lights out” final run ensuring we conform with our internal
disciplines and in cycle inspection procedures.
successful this project will reduce costs, down time and increase value adding
percentages (VA) to tighter control limits aiding with forecasting and planing.
